Baseline interviews:
Baseline Interviews are conducted at the start of each course, using scenarios developed specifically for those being trained. Participants are provided with information on a situation and asked to conduct an interview. Following the interview, video tape is reviewed to determine what went well and what did not. Care is taken to ask "fair" questions, with the objective of demonstrating that personal communications styles can be part of the crisis communications problem!

Preparing for success:
Participants are provided with specific checklists to use before, during and after media interviews. Numerous visual aids and video tape examples are employed in a highly interactive session which helps develop a personal communications style for each participant. Participants are also taught a three-step process which allows them to take control of the interview in a non-confrontational way.

Process Application:
Armed with a field-proven process, participants form teams and prepare for additional video interviews, using checklists provided during the course. Participants are also provided with video tape interviews showing the correct and incorrect way to conduct crisis interviews. Coaching is provided during the preparation period and the resulting video is critiqued with participants. Students are encouraged to review their personal video tapes three days after completion of the course to reinforce the learning experience.

Course Development:
Working with the client, specific scenarios will be developed for each participant. Scenarios will define incidents involving actual vessels and company operations to create a realistic training venue. Scenarios are reviewed with the client prior to conducting the course.
